I love decorating for the different seasons and LOVE creating new projects to go with them. I was looking for a bunting idea to decorate our entertainment center and found this idea. I thought it was soooo cute but the reality is that in South California, we don’t get very many fall leaves that aren’t burnt to a crisp. So this is that idea I came up with. I love how it turned out and love what it has added to our space.
Supplies
I cut my burlap fabric freehanded just using the previous piece as a guide. They aren’t perfect or the same size but I like that out the look. I then pulled any of the strings that were hanging, which gave the bunting a frayed look.
Using the stencil I cut with my Silhouette, I painted one leaf on each piece of burlap. To paint, dab don’t brush, using an up and down motion.
This is what my table looked like as I worked.
Once I was finished painting various leaves in various colors, I let them dry.
When they were dry, I used a large needle that could hold some thin twine and sewed the bunting flags together, going in through the top right and out through the top left (two wholes per flag).
This is the final product and I just love it!
