Hello and welcome to The Dwelling Place.
Back in 2010 as I was home with my new baby and didn’t quite know what to do with myself, my husband told me I needed a hobby. Blogging was starting to get popular and I enjoyed cooking and crafting and sharing about it became a fun outlet for me. Fast forward through the years, more children were added in, our life took twists and turns we didn’t expect (as is normal in life), so blogging took a backseat as we adjusted to each piece but as time has gone on, I have missed this space and sharing from my heart all that God is doing in my heart and life.
In June 2021 during a time of prayer and fasting, this little space came back to mind. I can’t promise to be consistent and I don’t know exactly where this space will go, but my hope is that I can encourage others in their faith, motherhood, homeschooling and life journeys with the encouragement God has given to me (see 2 Corinthians 1:3-7). My prayer is that you will find this space an extension of who I am and the hospitality I wish I could extend to everyone of you, into my home. I am not perfect and don’t even try to pretend to be… my life is very much a mess as I write these words because I am walking through a health struggle and the messy that is homeschooling.
As I prayed about the purpose of this blog, two verses came to mind and were the inspiration for the name;
“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians 3:16-17
“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.”
Psalm 27:4
My passion in this life is to encourage other women to be in God’s Word, to dwell upon it and have it flowing through them so that it can flow out of you and into others. I am passionate about teaching my children in the ways of the Lord (Deut 6: 6-9) and love to encourage other mama’s to pursue the same purpose. It can feel scary but that is just the enemy trying to discourage us from the commands of God. I am also passionate about homeschooling, a calling I didn’t expect to fall into my lap, but I see the joy, benefit and blessing it is and love to encourage other homeschool mom’s as they walk this road. It isn’t easy, it’s honestly the hardest job I’ve ever had but oh the rewards are so sweet and special and if you are thinking about pursuing it, I’d love to help you on your journey! Please reach out, the offer is an honest one.
As time goes on, I’ll share more about me and all the God has done in my life over the last few years but until then, welcome, grab your favorite drink (mine is coffee) and dwell awhile.
